What is percent?

Percent means..

• Is an equivalent fraction out of a 100.

For example, 45% (read as "forty-five percent") is equal to 45/100, or 0.45. 

1.)If you have a question like:

What is 25% of 80?

you can solve that by using T- chart.

25 / 20
to solve this you will have to divide 100 by 4 to get 25%, you have to divide by 4 in the other side so it's equal, so you divide 80 by 4 which give you 20.

Combining percent

 PS4- $385   Discount- 15%

To find the sale price you have to subtract 15 by a 100.
100-15 = 85

So now the sale price is 85.
Then divide the discount by 100.
Which gives you 0.15.
Now you multiply by how much the PS4 cost,and it will give you an answer of 57,75.
(0.15 x 385 = 57.75)

Then you subtract 385 by 57.77, which gives you 327.23.
(385-57.77= 327.23)
You will pay $ 327.23.

Percent means.......
 percent is a french word. "per" means out of  and cent means "100" 

 equivelent fraction out 100 

100 percent means all, whole everything  40/40 or 100/100

50 percent means half of the whole

25 percent means a quarter of the whole 

1 percent means one piece of the whole 

 we use 100 for percentage because it is just right.



1) 3/40 = 0.075/1 = 75 out of one hundred or 75 percent

2) 5.98/1 = 598/100 or 598 percent   598/1000

3) 750 percent/100 = 7.5 = 7 5/10 or 7 1/2
